Background:
Claremont Primary School is one of five primary schools serving the town of Alloa. The school dates from 1967 when it replaced Alloa Primary School following an extended house building programme in the Fairyburn, Braehead and Redwell areas. The building is of a flat roof construction, the steep sloping site necessitating a single storey to the west accommodating one nursery class, two infant classrooms, staffroom, school office, gym/assembly/dining hall. The remainder of the building to the east is of a two-storey construction which includes a general purpose room/stage area which at present houses the school library, computer suite, teaching/learning resources and a study area used for learning support. A mobile building accommodates two classrooms - one for music and one for art and design. The school has very pleasant surroundings and outlook and the building is well maintained. We share extensive grass playing fields with Alloa Academy, our associated secondary school to which most of our pupils transfer to complete their secondary education. There are well established links with Alloa Academy. .
